SwearBy is a free iPhone and Android app where bartenders, sommeliers, chefs and people with real taste vouch for the bars and restaurants they actually go to. Recommendations can't be bought.
The short version
You follow people whose taste you trust, and the places they swear by show up on your map with their notes: where to sit, what to order, what it's good for. A lot of the map comes from people who work in the business, and they can get verified.
There are no ads and no sponsored places, and venues can't pay for anything. There are no star ratings or rankings either. A vouch is a yes, up to four tags and a note.
From the founder
So I built an app. I got tired of picking bars off 4.6 stars and reviews from strangers. I'd rather ask the bartender. Or that one friend who always knows.
